The Piedmontese

The Wine

My Piedmontese wines are born in Serralunga d’Alba, where Nebbiolo finds its maximum vocation and the wonderful synergy between man and vineyard which has earned the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato the title of Heritage Intangible Heritage by Unesco reaches its most paradigmatic expression. Here, years ago and not without effort, I obtained the privilege of acquiring some parcels of land with an excellent viticultural vocation: the Cerretta and Prapò. Facing south-east, the two Additional Geographical Mentions of which today I am the spokesman and patron of, best represent the complexity of Barolo, strictly in the plural. Despite their territorial proximity, they express with ageing and terroir noticeably different characteristics: the clayey- limestone soil of the Cerretta vineyard makes finesse and persuasiveness its distinctive notes distinctive notes of cherries, undergrowth and liquorice, while from the barely half a hectare of Prapò, at an altitude a few dozen metres higher, I obtain a more austere and imposing Barolo, with a limestone matrix and a long persistence, the spiciness flanking with severe elegance the hint of violets typical of the wine. Two virtuosities that mirror each other mirror each other, similar and opposite, sketching together the Nebbiolo DOC the simplest and purest form of Piedmont signed Bugia Nen, my idea of Langa. A few bottles and three visions from my small, magnificent land.
